Comprehensive Instruction in Dual and Solo Night Flights

Night Rating Program

Our Night Rating (NR) program is your pathway to obtaining the Transport Canada Night Rating endorsement, essential for legal night flying. Designed not only for CPL training but also tailored for PPL holders not pursuing commercial pilot careers.

The program adheres strictly to Transport Canada's flight and instrument time requirements:

  • · 5 hours dual night training (including a 2-hour cross-country flight)

  • · 5 hours solo night flying (comprising 10 take-offs and landings)

  • · 10 hours of instrument training

Gain essential theory and practical skills to confidently operate aircraft at night. Upon completion, you'll emerge as a competent, skilled, and knowledgeable pilot ready to safely assume the role of Pilot-in-Command during nighttime operations.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course the successful student will / have demonstrate(d): 

  • The knowledge required to plan and execute flights at night

  • The environmental and physiological factors associated with flying at night

  • The skills to operate an aircraft at night, including effective instrument flying skills, and landing in low vis/night conditions with and without a landing light.

  • Flight training workbooks with lesson plans; VNC and VTA maps;

  • Canadian Flight Supplement;
