Student Success and Academic Support Department 

The Student Success and Academic Support Department at Canadian Aviation College is here to help students succeed — in their studies, in their transition to life in Canada, and in staying on track with academic and regulatory requirements. The department offers personalized support, practical guidance, and a consistent point of contact for students throughout their training journey.

What the Department Supports

Attendance Monitoring

Ensuring students stay in good standing by tracking attendance and addressing issues early.

Ongoing Student Support

Offering help with academic questions, documentation, housing, health care, and more — or directing students to the right resources when needed.

Referrals to External Services

Connecting students with trusted housing, mental health, employment, and legal support networks.

Student Intake & Orientation

Providing arrival guidance, orientation sessions, and system setup so students can start strong.​​

Student Engagement & Leadership

Supporting the Student Council, promoting community-building, and helping students stay connected and involved.

Compliance & Documentation

Helping students understand and meet requirements set by CAC, IRCC, PTIB, and EQA, while ensuring internal processes stay accurate and up to date.

Who the Department Serves

All students at CAC can access support, but the department works especially closely with:

  • International students adjusting to life in Canada

  • Student Council members leading campus initiatives

  • Institutional teams responsible for compliance and quality assurance

Recent Projects and Improvements

  • Launch of the Student Council  (09/2024)

  • Opening of a Student Lounge and upgrading of computers (01/2025)

  • Introduction of an electronic attendance kiosk

  • Updates to student handbooks and policies

  • Weekend workshops focused on job search strategies and life skills

  • Support for CAC’s transition to an 8-month academic year, improving student scheduling and compliance

Community Connections

To extend support beyond the college, the department works with:

  • ACCESS (Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society)

  • MOSAIC Newcomer Support Organization

  • Air Canada and aviation employers

  • Local networks for housing, health care, and career services
