Prepare to teach flight skills safely and professionally through instructor-led flight training, ground instruction, lesson preparation, demonstrations, questioning, assessment and supervised teaching practice.
About the Instructor Rating
This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills.
The Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) program trains a CPL holder to obtain the Transport Canada Class 4 Flight Instructor Rating. The Flight Instructor Rating permits the CPL holder to teach others how to fly.
Candidates who obtain their instructor rating at Canadian Aviation College (CYPK) will fly from the right seat while training with one of the industry's best class 1 instructors.

The enrolment fee is waived for current or former CAC students.

Aircraft and FTD Utilization Fees pay for the use of aircraft and flight training devices. These fees are separate from Tuition.

Admission Requirements

Hold a valid Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane or Airline Transport Pilot Licence – Aeroplane.

Hold and maintain a valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate.

Meet the applicable Transport Canada knowledge and experience prerequisites for a Class 4 Flight Instructor Rating – Aeroplane.

Meet all published Canadian Aviation College admission requirements in effect at the time of enrollment.
Enrollment Requirements
Enrollment Deposit
The Enrollment Deposit is required to secure enrollment and is applied toward the Student’s Tuition Account.

Study Permit Attendance Requirement
A Student studying in Canada on a Study Permit must maintain a minimum of 15 instructional hours in each instructional week and participate in required instructional activities. The weekly requirement is not averaged or carried forward from another week. Failure to comply may result in action under Canadian Aviation College policies and, where required, reporting under EQA and IRCC requirements.
